A wart is a tumor that is usually small and rough. Though warts can grow on any part of the body, they typically grow on hands and feet. It is just like a solid blister and can spread by touching the person who is already having it. This can also transfer to another person if anyone is in close contact with the warts. Another cause of spreading it is using objects like towels and other things that the person used. It may grow on the genitals, skin, mouth, and rectal area.
Especially the warts on the genitals are contagious and can easily be passed to another person during vaginal, anal, and oral sex. Usually, they don’t cause any problems; they are harmless. They differ from moles. They don’t cause any pain or itching. In fact, it can be spread by shaving.
Warts on the rest of the body are not as contagious as those on the genital area. Usually, it spreads through the cracks in your skin like scrapes. They can easily spread on your fingertips by biting your nails.
Sometimes it can take many months to disappear, and sometimes they disappear on their own. Which not disappear on their own require some remedies.
Treatments For Warts
1. Topical Creams
Topical creams are readily available in pharmacies. You can buy them provided you have a prescription coming from the doctor. However, some topical creams can burn the skin since some of their ingredients are quite acidic.
2. Laser Treatment
Laser treatments can be done within minutes depending on the gravity of the virus. It may also require local anesthesia since the procedure will be painful. The only setback to this is the cost and it has a longer time to heal. There is also a high possibility of scarring and infections in other individuals because of the plume that is being dispersed during the treatment.
3. Cryotherapy
This treatment freezes it using liquid nitrogen as the main probe to treat the disease.
What are Moles?
Moles, also called nevi, are small, colored skin growths that appear on the skin. They are formed when skin cells called melanocytes increase in clusters that produce pigment, which gives the mole its color. Moles can vary in many sizes, shapes, and colors. However, moles are harmless, but in some cases, they may become irregular, which could indicate a potential risk of skin cancer; they should be evaluated by a specialist doctor.
Types of Moles
There are several types of moles based on their appearance, location, and development. Here are some of the common moles:
Congenital Moles
- Presents from birth or appears shortly afterward.
- Can be different in size and may have a higher risk of developing melanoma.
Common Moles (Acquired Nevi)
- It grows later in life, usually in childhood or early adulthood.
- Round or oval in form with a smooth edge and uniform hue.
Atypical Moles (Dysplastic Nevi)
- They are large or irregular in shape with uneven coloring.
- May look like melanoma and need monitoring for changes.
Junctional Moles
- Flat and smooth in appearance, resembling dark spots on the skin.
Intradermal Moles
- Elevated and flesh-colored or lightly pigmented.
- Presents in the dermis layer of the skin.
Compound Moles
- They are raised and darker in color.
- Begins to develop as melanocytes are present in both the epidermis and the dermis.
Treatments For Warts & Moles Removal
Excision: In this procedure, the mole is completely removed from the skin using a scalpel. This procedure is often used on cancerous moles only.
Laser Removal: It consists of high-intensity laser beams that destroy mole cells, and this method is only effective in eliminating flat moles.
Cryotherapy: In this technique, liquid nitrogen is used to freeze and remove the mole.
